IBI Group Receives an Award of Excellence
IBI Group was the recipient of an Award of Excellence at the Consulting Engineers of British Columbia's (CEBC) 2005 Awards Gala for the Cross-border Advanced Traveller Information System (ATIS). This Advanced Traveller Information System, developed on behalf of the BC Ministry of Highways and Transport Canada with funding assistance from Western Economic Diversification, was implemented along the southbound approaches of Highway 99 and 15 connecting BC into Washington State. The Cross-border ATIS is the first system in North America that automatically measures queues and estimates delays and disseminates this information in real-time using Dynamic Message Signs on the highway, an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone system, and the province's Road Reports website www.th.gov.bc.ca/ATIS/. IBI Group was responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of the system - including all software development. As a result of the success of this project, IBI Group has just been commissioned to implement a similar queue and delay estimating system for the Lions Gate Bridge, Vancouver.
