National Traffic Control Centre
England
The National Traffic Control Centre (NTCC) is the Highways Agency’s flagship traffic management service providing strategic traffic management across the entire English motorway and principle road network. The NTCC monitors a road network of approximately 5130 miles with 4000 traffic monitoring sites.
NTCC coordinates with Police and local highway authorities to disseminate accurate and timely information to the public via a website, interactive telephone services and roadside VMS. It also provides information direct to media organisations for onward broadcast. The project has been procured as a Public-Private Partnership, whereby the NTCC Company is responsible for installation and maintenance of the necessary infrastructure and provides services over a ten-year concession for which payment is received.
